Oktoberfest in San Diego: Here’s where to celebrate

Prost! Pull the lederhosen and dirndl out of the closet and grab your finest mug, it’s that time of year again for Germany’s most famous tradition: Oktoberfest!

And given our city’s love of beer, you have plenty of options for celebrating Oktoberfest in San Diego. Here’s a guide to help you plan your celebration!

Ocean Beach Oktoberfest 2022 will be a party to remember. This annual event is scheduled for October 7 and 8 at Ocean Beach, where Newport meets the beach.

The two-day, all-day, all-night event will feature live music from local and national touring artists, a 4:20 p.m. happy hour, liquid brunch featuring artists Oktoberfest-themed drag shows, contests and games, including a Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest competition, the traditional mug-holding contest, a cornhole tournament, eat the kids, and more.

Annual East Village Oktoberfest at Quartyard

Quartyard’s East Village Oktoberfest will carry on the tradition in San Diego with six versions of German lagers and pilsners from six San Diego-based craft breweries, a traditional Oktoberfest party, and music and games from around the world. ‘Oktoberfest!

Quartyard will turn Your City Block into an Oktoberfest paradise with over 20 draft beers from Alesmith , Modern times, Ketchand Karl Strauss.

This beloved La Mesa tradition will host a host of polka dancers and revelers who will have you saying Oans, zwoa, g’suffa (One, Two, Three) DRINK all weekend long!

The Mesa Oktoberfest is the perfect opportunity to make memories, enjoy the company of friends and family, and come together for an unbeatable FREE weekend in a German paradise.

It's Craftoberfest at the Liberty Public Market

Prost! Craftoberfest at Liberty Public Market is San Diego’s only 10-day Oktoberfest event celebrating the art of craft beer! Hopheads can soak up the Oktoberfest spirit with a takeover of German taps at Bottlecraft, featuring prost-worthy pilsners, lagers, kölsch, and more.

The Liberty Public Market will be the site of many Oktoberfest shenanigans, including a beer pong tournament, yodeling contest, mug-holding contest, costume contest, and live music.

It's fun for everyone at Julian's 25th Annual Oktoberfest

It’s all day fun for everyone at Julian’s 25th Annual Oktoberfest! Enjoy live music with Oktoberfest dancers and singers, plus hours of bingo, sip and paint an icon, kids’ activities, silent auctions, raffles, great food and a Biergarten.

The 26th Annual Encinitas Oktoberfest is a free, festive community event that celebrates the Encinitas area’s long-standing German roots and features local artisan products, an authentic German Biergarten with live entertainment featuring troupes Bavarian music and dance, German refreshments plus an international food court, carnival rides and a recently added local craft Biergarten.

Come one, come all one Paseo Oktoberfest 2022

Munich, Germany? No, One Paseo! Oktoberfest at One Paseo will include Biergartens provided by Harland and Scout, German-inspired bites from The Butchery, lawn games, music, a costume contest and more!

Grab your friends and head to The Lawn for a tasty cold beer in better company!

Mike Hess Brewery, Original Brew 40, Rouleur Breweryand Second chance beer are teaming up for the North Park Oktoberfest Beer Crawl on Thursday, September 22.

To add an extra incentive to your Oktoberfest, they are offering $600 in prizes to those who complete the crawl. Taprooms at all four San Diego breweries are all within 0.4 miles of each other and must be visited between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. to qualify.

Brewing Society's Annual Oktoberfest

On Saturday, September 24, the Societe Brewery will be transformed into a German beer hall, decorated from floor to ceiling and featuring authentic German street food paired with Societe’s signature Fest Bier, Societe’s beloved beer at 4.6 % of Oktoberfest available from August to September, making it a must-attend Oktoberfest event.
